Kenyan Afro-pop authority, Sauti Sol return to bad habits with the commission of yet another masterclass effort titled “Rewind.” The smoking piece comes with a feature of one of Africa’s finest rappers in Khaligraph Jones.
Having promised dope collaborations and music videos until November, Sauti Sol connects “Rewind” with a music video and it is a blast from the past by all accounts. The visuals was directed by Nigerian cinematographer, Sesan.
Made up of Bien-Aimé Baraza, Willis Austin Chimano, Savara Mudigi, and Polycarp Otieno, the Nairobi-formed, award-winning Sauti Sol remains one of the best musical groups to ever come out of the Africa.
They have been on the quest to unite the continent with their gift of music in the build up to the premiere of their album. To this length, they have commissioned such scorchers as “Girl Next Door,” which featured Mavin Records diva, Tiwa Savage as well as “Afrikan Star,” alongside Burna Boy.
Well, Sauti Sol are moving away from those dope Nigerian collaborations and head home to Nairobi where they team up with Khaligraph Jones who continues to fly the Hip Hop flag across the East African sub-region.
In fact, he kicked things off on “Rewind” with those steamy and dope trademark lyrical lines highlighting the story so far. This performance comes through as a perfect fusion with the vocal abilities of Sauti Sol.
“Rewind” will remind you once again of the cardinal rule of never despising the days of little beginnings; especially since Rome wasn’t built in a day. Just keep up with the grind and hustle and expect the resultant pay day.
